Banca March strengthens the security of its customers to deal with cybercrime in the context of COVID-19

  • The entity transfers security recommendations to its customers, with the purpose of protecting them as much as possible in the context of the uncertainty generated by the COVID-19 crisis.

Cybercriminals are taking advantage of the state of alert declared by the government to generate confusion and deceive users. In the face of this, Banca March, which remains in close contact with its customers, is implementing the most effective security measures to reduce the risk and protect itself, both at the personal and professional level.

The entity would like to remind its customers that Banca March's normal communication channels remain open and can be used to make any query or report any problem (telephone 901 11 10 00 and e-mail info@bancamarch.es). Likewise, the most common transactions and operations can be carried out 24 hours a day and without the need to visit the bank's branches, by using our Remote Banking service, either on the Website or through the mobile app.


The bank warns that now, more than ever, cybercriminals can try to confuse users by impersonating financial institutions and official bodies, such as the World Health Organization (WHO). To protect against these attacks, Banca March recommends its customers to:

Never provide bank passwords via email, SMS or during a call. In case of doubt, please contact Banca March to verify it.

Do not trust in emails that try to obtain this confidential information: these are phishing attacks.

          - Check the sender's address and, if in doubt, contact that person or entity by other means to verify its authenticity.

          - Do not trust in messages with generic greetings, spelling mistakes or text that have not been translated properly..

           - On the case of emails containing a link, we recommend moving the mouse on top of the link (without clicking on it) to check the URL.

• Be very careful when someone requests your corporate credentials or personal information via telephone. This is a vishing attack.

Be very suspicious of people who call you and transmit a sense of urgency or seem to be concerned.

• Bear in mind that they can benefit from the desire of others to help them in situations of emergency and of how we are sometimes reluctant to say "no".

Be suspicious of free products such as, for example, antibacterial gel, masks, etc.

• This situation is increasing the number of cyber-attacks known as ransomware such as WannaCry. If in doubt, do not download attachments.

Against misinformation:

• Don't believe everything you read and beware of clickbait.

•Do not spread fake news on social media or via WhatsApp.

•Help the most vulnerable groups (children and seniors) identify fake news.

•Be careful with what you post on the Internet.

•Report any fake news you find on social media.

• Check and only give credibility to official sources of information, such as The Ministry of Healthcare's website or the Police’s Department Twitter account.

Secure teleworking:

• Connect using the security systems enabled by the company (VPN, Token, etc.).

• Send documents using the authorised corporate tools.

• Keep corporate devices up-to-date.

• Change the default router password for a strong password (minimum 8 characters and a mix of uppercase, lowercase, numbers and special characters).

• Do not use public WiFi networks, since these might not be secure.

• If you need to connect from a non-corporate computer, at the end make sure you close all sessions in the applications or services, do not download corporate information and eliminate all cookies and the browsing history.


To protect the health of its customers and employees and continue to offer a top-quality banking service, Banca March has adopted a protocol that is in line with the instructions of the health authorities, advising its customers to:

• Stay inside the branch for as little time as possible, keeping the safety distance of at least one and a half metres.

• Avoid unnecessary visits and close contact with other people.

• Any person infected with coronavirus, with its symptoms or who has been in contact with a person infected with coronavirus should not visit the bank's branches.

Banca March customers can receive information about the latest market updates and events through the daily reports and videos prepared by the Banca March and March A.M. experts. These reports are published on the Banca March public website (www.bancamarch.es) and can also be checked through the company's official LinkedIn, YouTube and Twitter accounts.
