Banca March co-invests with Oquendo Capital in the financing of Spanish medium-sized companies

  • Oquendo IV, which has a total acquisition target of 250 million euros, is the third such project in which the two entities have joined forces and in which Banca March will co-invest with its customers.
  • The fund will provide financing to Spanish medium-sized companies with strong credit ratings and growth prospects mainly via mezzanine financing and other flexible instruments.
  • This new project has an investment horizon of four years, during which time 12 to 15 investments of between 5 and 25 million euros are expected to be made.

Banca March and Oquendo Capital, a leading manager in alternative financing in Spain, have launched Oquendo IV, a fund that will invest in Spanish medium-sized companies with strong credit ratings and growth prospects via flexible financing instruments.

In line with Banca March's innovative initiatives on alternative assets, this project is a new solution to provide the bank's customers with access to new sources of profitability in the current market context. Following a detailed process of structuring and analysis, Oquendo IV has been designed as a new project enabling Banca March to co-invest with its customers. Together with the contributions of the Oquendo team and key institutional investors, it aims to capture 250 million euros. This is the third such project in which the two entities have joined forces.

The fund seeks opportunities for collaboration to drive the growth and expansion of companies with a proven track record of cash generation and profits, accustomed to facing the challenges of a period of uncertainty like the current one but also in a position to take advantage of the development opportunities that will undoubtedly arise.

This new project has an investment horizon of four years, during which time 12 to 15 operations of between 5 and 25 million euros are planned. The investment strategy has a generalist sectoral approach, although companies that do not comply with the manager's ESG policy will not be eligible for financing.

Juan Antonio Roche, Deputy Managing Director of Banca March and Director of the Product Area, said: "This product gives our customers the opportunity to co-invest together with Banca March and Oquendo Capital, a leader in the alternative financing segment. We are convinced that our partner's capabilities will enable us to add value to Banca March and its customers in a context as complex as the current one, which demands searching for new sources of profitability. This is the third time we have collaborated with Oquendo Capital, a partner that has demonstrated enormous capacity in the management of this asset class."

For his part, Alfonso Erhardt, Founding Partner of Oquendo Capital, said: "Our IV fund consolidates a long history of more than 10 years as an alternative funder in Spain. We believe that the current environment offers great opportunities for financing the growth of medium-sized companies and we are delighted to have the support of Banca March and the other institutional investors that have worked with us over the years."
