Banca March joins the Spanish Association Against Cancer and sponsors the "Science for All" initiative. This project seeks to inspire a passion for science in young people, to share knowledge and to involve broader society in the progress being made in cancer research.

To this end, the coordinators, accompanied by volunteers with science-related profiles who are committed to cancer research, deliver workshops and talks at schools and organisations. This group is currently comprised of about 30 people, including university students in the sciences and health sciences (nursing, psychology, biochemistry, nutrition and chemistry, among others), and graduate professionals and researchers.

Sonia Colino, Head of the People, Brand and Sustainability Unit at Banca March, said: "It is a huge source of satisfaction for Banca March to partner with the Spanish Association Against Cancer again, following our previous cooperation agreement to support Banca March professionals who are affected by cancer and their families. These agreements reflect our century-old philosophy of shared growth with customers, employees, shareholders and society. Raising awareness and sparking passion for the sciences among young people is, without a doubt, an objective with which we fully identify."

The Vice-President of the Spanish Association Against Cancer in the Balearic Islands, Jaime Bellido, thanked Banca March for its commitment: "To meet the Spanish Association Against Cancer's goal of 70% cancer survival by 2030, we must involve the whole of society in our mission by enhancing scientific knowledge throughout the population, from children to adults, and raise awareness of what science can and will do in the fight against cancer. A society with stronger scientific knowledge will better understand the difficulties that researchers face on a daily basis and the essential work they do."

The "Science for All" initiative has the backing of government initiatives such as the Balearic Regional Government's "Viu la Cultura" project, the Palma City Council's "Palma Educa" project, the Ciutadella City Council's "Obrint Portes" project, the Island Council of Menorca's "Salut Jove" project, the Mahón City Council's "Amb Bona Lletra" project and the support of the Ibiza City Council.

At the workshops delivered by these volunteers, scientific experiences are created with a view to bringing science closer to people in general and children in particular. One of the goals of these workshops is to recreate, as far as possible, the work carried out by scientists in the laboratory.

The theme of the workshops is agreed with the school or the organisation depending on the age of the participants. The workshops delivered include: "The antioxidant power of fruit", "Little researchers", "Luminescence", "DNA extraction" and "Researchers for a day".
