Banca March rounds out its business client advisory services by helping them to access the Energy Saving Certificates (CAE) System created by the Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge. To this end, the institution has signed a collaboration agreement with CREARA, a consultancy specialising in energy efficiency and one of the first firms to register as a Delegated Entity for managing this type of certificate.

Thanks to this partnership, Banca March, through its Special Project Financing Unit, is reinforcing its commitment to supporting clients in their transition to more sustainable business models by providing strategic advice on special projects based on unique, tailored solutions. Additionally, the institution will be able to take an active role in financing its clients’ initiatives aimed at achieving energy savings that can be monetised under the CAE System, thereby enhancing its sustainable finance strategy.

The Special Projects Financing Unit, which provides its services through the coordination of a multidisciplinary team of professionals from the business segments and specialised units within the organisation, aims to offer services to industrial clients and those in the tertiary, services, and energy sectors through six key focus areas: energy efficiency, alternative fuels, decarbonisation, waste recovery, efficient water management, and social projects.

Javier Alcántara, Director of the Special Projects Financing Unit at Banca March, stated: “This agreement is part of Banca March’s commitment to a sustainable business model and a unique, comprehensive value proposition designed to meet all our clients’ financial needs. Facilitating access to the CAE Issuance System allows us to further expand our advisory services. As a result, we continue to support our clients in developing their activities, while placing a strong focus on sustainability — a core principle of our business model, which is based on the shared growth of clients, professionals, shareholders, and society as a whole”.

Rodrigo Morell, CEO of CREARA Energy Experts, stated: “The new CAE System is an excellent lever for launching new energy efficiency projects in the industrial sector. Together with Banca March, we will bring this incentive model closer to the Spanish business community, drawing on our 20 years of experience providing energy efficiency services to major consumers. The agreement also includes other market intelligence and outreach activities to raise awareness of the CAE System’s benefits among its potential beneficiaries”.

The recently implemented CAE System promotes investment in energy efficiency in Spain, enabling companies—primarily in the industrial and service sectors—to recover a significant portion of their investment in this area. Companies that have carried out or plan to carry out measures to reduce their final energy consumption can transfer those energy savings to be converted into CAEs. CREARA will be responsible for verifying the technical applicability of the measures to the CAE System, managing all procedures related to their conversion into CAEs, and ultimately transferring them to the Obligated Parties, which have the option to redeem the certificates with the National Energy Efficiency Fund as an alternative to making the annual financial contribution required to meet their legal obligations for final energy savings.
