During its first year, the initiative carried out 323 activities, including talks and practical workshops, across 112 centres and organisations throughout the archipelago. This agreement reaffirms both institutions’ commitment to fostering scientific vocations and adds to the existing collaboration to provide support to Banca March professionals and their families. Banca March and the Spanish Cancer Association have renewed their collaboration agreement to continue promoting the “Science for All” programme during 2026. The decision follows a successful first year in which the initiative exceeded all expectations, reaching the participation of 7,304 people through 323 outreach activities in the Balearic Islands. A programme to spark scientific vocations The project, sponsored by Banca March, aims primarily to spark scientific vocations among younger generations and bring advances in cancer research closer to society. During 2025, 53 talks and 280 practical workshops were delivered in 112 schools, centres and organisations across all the islands, demonstrating the strong interest that science generates when it is presented in an accessible and hands-on way. Banca March’s commitment to society Sonia Colino, head of the People, Brand and Sustainability unit at Banca March, stated: “We are incredibly proud of the results achieved in 2025. Seeing that we have been able to spark interest in science among more than 7,300 people, most of them young, confirms that this alliance is more necessary than ever. Renewing our commitment to the Spanish Cancer Association is a natural step that reflects our philosophy of joint growth and our firm support for society. Investing in scientific vocations is investing in a better future for everyone”. The role of research in the fight against cancer For his part, the vice-president of the Spanish Cancer Association in the Balearic Islands, Jaime Bellido, said: “The support of Institutions such as Banca March is essential to achieve our goal of exceeding a 70% cancer survival rate by 2030. The ‘Science for All’ programme not only inspires future researchers, but also creates a scientific culture in society that is vital to understanding the importance of research. The figures for 2025 represent a resounding success, and we are delighted to continue working with Banca March to ensure the continuity of this highly valuable project”. The “Science for All” initiative is delivered by a team of volunteers with scientific and healthcare backgrounds who design workshops such as “The Antioxidant Power of Fruit”, “DNA Extraction” and “Researchers for a Day”, creating experiences that simulate work in a laboratory and bring science closer to participants in an engaging and rigorous way. This agreement adds to the collaboration that both Institutions already engaged in to provide support to Banca March professionals affected by cancer and their families, thereby strengthening a solid partnership committed to social well-being.
