Banca March increases its range of alternative management products with the launch of the March Alternative Strategies fund of funds, a product which will allow conservative investors access to a diversified portfolio of vehicles specialising in Long Short Equity, Global Macro, Credit/Relative Value and Event Driven strategies.
The aim of the new fund of funds is to offer new sources of returns that are complementary to traditional investment. The aim is for it to act as a complement to the customers' core portfolios through assets that have very little in common, which will generate exposure to trends that are moving the markets today, such as, the reopening of the economy, sectors that have been successful during the pandemic, or volatility, with a prudent investment approach.
March Alternative Strategies does not require a minimum investment and is an alternative to structural liquidity for savers and investors who have an investment horizon of between two and three years. All the funds in the portfolio will be UCITS vehicles, which provides the fund with transparency and diversification during the most difficult times of the market.
The launch of this fund of funds, through March AM, in coordination with the Banca March, is included within the agreement signed in 2019, in which Franklin Templeton K2 Advisors act as Banca March's advisor in alternative strategies.
Diversification of strategies
Using a conservative investment philosophy, the managers at March Alternative Strategies have put together a portfolio comprising different strategy types on alternative assets. Using the Long Short Equity strategy the aim is to find asymmetric returns in global equity markets, investing in shares or share indexes Furthermore, Global Macro strategies will be focused on finding macroeconomic opportunities in a variety of markets, through different instruments: shares, bonds and derivatives, for long or short positions. The Credit/Relative Value approach covers a wide range of investment techniques that try to benefit from price inefficiencies within fixed-income or equity investments. Lastly, Event Driven strategies invest in the securities of companies that are involved in corporate events such as mergers, acquisitions, or restructurings to benefit from the value generated.
