Banca March and March R.S. sponsor Gold category of the Mallorca Championships

15 June 2021 Category: General

The sponsorship deal underscores Banca March's firm commitment to the Canary Islands and to the region's economic and social recovery.

Banca March and March Risk Solutions (March R.S.), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Banca March and the world's largest Spanish-owned insurance broker, are among the lead sponsors – along with companies like Melià Hotels International and Engel&Völkers, also deeply rooted in Mallorca – of the first ever ATP Mallorca Championships, an ATP 500 tournament to be held from 19 to 26 June at the Mallorca Country Club in Santa Ponça.

Ángel Martínez, Managing Director of Retail and Private Banking at Banca March, said: “Banca March was created in Mallorca almost a century ago, so it gives us great pleasure to support the ATP Mallorca Championships. This event foregrounds quality and sustainability, values with which we identify fully and which will be crucial drivers for the region's recovery.

At Banca March, we firmly believe that profitability and sustainability must go hand in hand. As a bank that specialises in wealth management and family businesses and aspires to excellence, we have taken up the gauntlet of developing innovative responsible, sustainable investment and financing formats. Excellence, sustainability and specialist expertise are all values we share with top-level tennis; values which will undoubtedly underpin the economic reopening we have all been waiting for.”

Alfonso García Larriu, CEO of March R.S., emphasised the unwavering commitment of March R.S., and indeed the whole Banca March Group, to Mallorca. “These events are crucial in supporting the recovery of economic and social activity in the region, which is why we at March R.S are so proud to play our part. We also identify deeply with the sustainable, innovative nature of the tournament, values which we believe are crucial for the development of an increasingly committed, efficient economy.”

The tournament organiser recently announced that the ATP Mallorca Championships, in cooperation with Ecovidrio, will be the first ever tennis tournament to measure its water, carbon and environmental footprint, with a view to capping and gradually reducing its impact on the planet in future editions of the event. The end goal is to build a 100% sustainable tournament.

Banca March remains utterly committed to society and to providing quality, responsible advisory services, which has led the bank to pursue profitable, sustainable new financing proposals and wealth management solutions. The Banca March Group is at the cutting edge of private banking, with the sector's most comprehensive range of attractive investment solutions, all underpinned by the bank's business model, which foregrounds specialisation and prudence and seeks shared growth with all stakeholders: customers, employees, shareholders and society as a whole.

The first edition of the ATP Mallorca Championships will commence on 19 June on the grass courts at the Mallorca Country Club. The 1,500 spectators set to attend the event each day will get to watch global tennis greats such as Dominic Thiem, Nick Kyrgios, Karen Khachanov, Pablo Carreño, Casper Ruud, Fernando Verdasco and Feliciano López.
