The non-profit organisation @asLAN, which comprises over 120 tech companies that share a passion for innovation, awarded Banca March CIO Teresa Capella and her team the award for Private Sector CIOs, in recognition of their crucial contribution to deploying digital infrastructure and providing support for business applications and processes.

The Banca March Technology Unit has conducted a range of projects aimed at updating the bank's infrastructure. Its goal is to equip Banca March with cutting-edge technology that will guarantee the development and sustainability of the business, its digital transformation and its operating model. The Unit's various lines of action include cybersecurity systems, server virtualisation solutions and workspace modernisation.

Banca March CIO Teresa Capella said: “This award is recognition of all the hard work put in by the Technology Unit to position Banca March as one of the most technologically-advanced banks in the sector and to provide our customers and managers with next-generation, quality technology solutions. Technology is a crucial component of any company, and as customers, our everyday activity and the services we require are increasingly based on technology frameworks and solutions. That is why the bank decided to launch an ambitious Digital Transformation Plan and undertake significant investments to safeguard both the present and the future of our business."

THE BANCA MARCH DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION PLAN

Reporting directly to the Deputy Chair of Banca March, Rita Rodríguez Arrojo, the Technology Unit launched a Digital Transformation Plan in 2018 that will carry an investment of 75 million euros and come to completion in 2020.

Banca March's digital strategy responds to three broad objectives: enhance customer experience, expand the range of digital tools available to managers and improve the efficiency of internal processes. These goals are in line with Banca March's overarching strategic objective, which is to position itself as the leading provider of private banking and corporate advisory services in the Spanish market. They are also a true reflection of its business model, which is underpinned by four key pillars: shareholder commitment, exclusive, unique products and services, outstanding quality service and excellent professionals.

Banca March has made major improvements to its mobile banking app and has also launched a new online investment platform which offers its customers access to information on the financial markets in connection to their investment portfolios. The platform's users also have the option to view the details of their contracts and products at any given time and can perform certain transactions.

In 2018, Banca March signed agreements with both Google Pay and Apple Pay to expand the digital payment options available to its customers, who have expressed their appreciation of the improvements made by the bank in the digital services area. In addition to these initiatives, the Unit has also just launched the first voice assistant with Smart Display for customers, with a particular focus on the private banking segment. This makes Banca March the first private banking institution in Spain to pair its voice interactions with a display device, providing its customers with another channel through which to liaise with their manager.
