Banca March is the official bank of the 38th Copa del Rey MAPFRE

  • Through its sponsorship of this prestigious sailing competition, Banca March underlines its firm commitment to the Balearic Islands and to practices which reflect the bank's core values: commitment, ambition, integrity, effort and rigour.

Banca March and the Real Club Náutico de Palma have signed a cooperation agreement under which the bank, which was founded in the Balearic Islands, will be the official banking partner for the 38th Copa del Rey MAPFRE. The Copa del Rey MAPFRE is one of the world's most prestigious regattas and this year, it is set to take place from 27 July to 3 August in the Bay of Palma, in Mallorca.

Banca March CEO José Luis Acea said: “Given the bank's Balearic origins, it is an honour for us to participate in this competition, which is one of the top sporting and social events of the year. For over nine decades, Banca March has remained fully committed to a business philosophy based on Shared Growth with all stakeholders: customers, employees, shareholders and society as a whole. It is hugely motivating for us to take part in initiatives like the Copa del Rey MAPFRE, which are highly beneficial for everyone involved: participants, organisers, sponsors, and the communities that are lucky enough to host them.”

Javier Sanz, Chairman of the Real Club Náutico de Palma and of the organising committee, emphasised that: “Banca March joining the Copa del Rey MAPFRE crew is the perfect finishing touch to secure the standard of quality we aspire to for the regatta; its solvency as a financial institution and its strong corporate brand will now be aligned with one of Europe's top summer sporting events.”

The agreement, which was signed in Palma today by Vicente Jábega, Regional Head of Retail and Private Banking, and Rafael Ferragut, Regional Head of Large Companies on behalf of Banca March, will strengthen the bank's ties with its customers. Banca March's business model is based on quality, tailored advisory services, long-term relationships and its unwavering values of integrity, commitment, rigour, effort and ambition. All of this makes Banca March a unique financial institution with an unparalleled, inimitable business model in the Spanish financial landscape.

Initiatives such as the sponsorship of the Copa del Rey MAPFRE reinforce Banca March's strong links with the Balearic Islands. Banca March's extensive knowledge of the market and its close, lasting ties with Balearic business leaders and entrepreneurial families have made it the top choice of bank in the region for several generations.

Banca March is the only Spanish bank that has remained wholly family-owned since its inception, with a unique business model based on joint investment and long-term returns. Since its foundation in Palma de Mallorca in 1926, the bank has been a leader in wealth management and private banking. It has enjoyed sustained growth, whilst always safeguarding its identity as a family bank, regardless of the various crises and restructurings that the sector has undergone over the years. The family nature of the bank is clearly reflected in its long-term business model, which affords natural protection from the short-term pressure of the markets.
