Banca March is a family-owned financial institution which was founded in 1926 by Juan March Ordinas, in Palma de Mallorca. From the beginning an expansion process was put in place starting with the Balearic Islands, with a clearly universalistic vocation to become the main bank taking part in the tourist development of the Islands, by targeting a leading position in the overall financial support of the Balearic tourist industry.

At present, Banca March is studying in depth its strategic business model mainly focusing on Wealth Management, Private and Business Banking, by paying special attention to family-owned businesses and entrepreneurial families as well as high net worth customers.  

Solvency, soundness and good sense, together with the traditional personalized service offered to customers, are the fundamental pillars on which the bank's business model rests. The solvency coefficient is one of the highest in the Spanish financial sector as well as one of the highest among all European banks. In addition, the default payment rate is one of the lowest and the level of coverage against insolvencies is among the most solid in the system.

The Banca March Group is involved in different activities: the banking business,  managed by the parent company Banca March; the management of investment funds and pensions, directly controlled through March Gestión, and the insurance business through Banca March, as an associated banking insurance agent, and through March-Unipsa, as an insurance brokerage firm.

Banca March is the holding company and main shareholder of Corporación Financiera Alba, through which it holds participations in the main European economic sectors, with a significant presence in construction, services, metallurgy and security services, among others. Alba is the main shareholder in ACS, a Spanish leader in infrastructures, construction and services, and in Acerinox, the world leader in the stainless steel sector. It is also a reference shareholder in Prosegur, Indra and Clínicas Baviera.

In addition, Banca March is the owner of around 100,000 square metres in several properties based in Madrid and Barcelona, primarily used for the rental business.
